Nightshift: Immigrant Voices in the After-Hours City
A short video series by 217Visual

Filmed during my time with Sinovision in New York, this series is a tribute to the unseen labor that keeps the city alive while it sleeps.

From a Chinatown bartender reflecting on decades of shifting community, to a Bronx laundromat owner working through fear for the sake of survival, to a street vendor sweating beside a barbecue truck in 100-degree heat—serving those drifting home from parties and bars.

Each story reveals the quiet resilience of immigrant workers shaping the city’s nocturnal rhythm.

These are stories of hardship, of hope, of relentless hustle. Of new immigrants building their lives—one night, one shift at a time.
